The Cunning Little Vixen

The tale of a quick-witted fox and her escape from confinement for a life in the forest is by turns joyful, witty, romantic and tragic. The Cunning Little Vixen follows the cycle of death and rebirth through the instinctive and immediate world of nature—animal and human, which Janáček loved so dearly. In this celebrated score, singers and orchestra embody the sounds of the forest, the feel of sunshine on your face and the thrill of a starlit sky.

Opera Lite

Piedmont Opera Introduces a Fun and Inexpensive Way to Learn More About Opera

Opera can totally feel intimidating at first—with the big voices, dramatic stories, and foreign languages—but once you get a little taste of it, it’s honestly kind of addictive. It’s like the ultimate combo of music, theater, and high drama (so much drama).

If you’re curious and want to sound a little more in-the-know without diving too deep too fast, Piedmont Opera has a class for you!

Whether you are opera-curious or an aficionado, this is your chance to meet classically trained up-and-coming artists without the fuss! Opera LITE is a casual opera experience featuring some of Piedmont Opera’s fan favorites. Learn (or learn more) about opera and experience the music in a low-pressure and informal setting with a fun theme, beautiful singing, an informative talk, Q&A with the artists, and a reception with nibbles.

Come to one, two, or all three! General admission tickets are available now and are just $15.

Handel's Messiah

The Winston-Salem Mozart Club's sponsored performance of Handel's Messiah is the oldest continuing annual performance in North Carolina since 1923.

The 2023 performance of the complete Handel's Messiah will be conducted by James Allbritten, Artistic Director of Piedmont OperaSoloists are Carolyn Orr, Soprano, Joyner Horn, Mezzo-Soprano, Toby Bradford, Tenor, and Christian J. Blackburn, Baritone.

While a professional conductor, soloists and orchestra are used for the performance, the chorus is all volunteers.  We welcome all singers to our rehearsals.  If you interested in singing with us, you can reach out to us or find more out more in the Sing With Us tab above.

The Winston Salem Mozart Club has hosted this performance of Handel's Messiah in full for nearly 90 years as a gift to the greater Piedmont Triad community.  For its entire existence, it has been a free concert.  We believe in strengthening the bonds of arts and music in our community and every year singers from many different performing groups and churches come together to celebrate the Christmas season.  You can help support our yearly production by making a donation at the concert or online through our Paypal.
